Dr. Spero Theodorou and Dr. Christopher T Chia, plastic surgeons at the AAAASF-accredited Park Avenue Smart Lipo™ practice, will be participating in ASAPS’ (American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) Aesthetic Meeting 2014 to be held at Moscone Center, San Francisco from April 24 – 29, 2014.
The Aesthetic Society Meeting is one of the most prestigious conferences in the cosmetic surgery profession. This 2014 aesthetic meeting scheduled to be held from April 24-29 features interactive scientific sessions with audience response, educational exhibits, hands-on cadaver workshops and live demonstrations of aesthetic procedures for medical professionals in the field. Admission is open to plastic surgeons who are members of certain designated plastic surgery organizations, medical students, residents and fellows in approved plastic surgery programs, plastic surgical nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The focus is on maintaining an optimal educational environment.
On April 27, the 4th day of the meeting, Dr. Chia and Dr. Theodorou will be talking on “Liposuction 2014: New Technologies, Established Techniques, and Combined Procedures.” Scheduled from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm, this comprehensive course covers a broad range of liposuction from fundamentals to advanced techniques. During this course the surgeons will address topics such as:
>> Planning and performing liposuction safely and efficiently
>> Alternative routines to optimally treat a broad variety of patients
>> Use of local anesthesia for rapid recovery and increased patient satisfaction
>> Appraise clinical characteristics associated with increased risk, reducing/avoiding risk, treating complications
>> Compare traditional liposuction versus power assisted (PAL), ultrasound assisted (VASER), laser assisted (SmartLipo), radiofrequency assisted (BodyTite), and water assisted liposuction (Hydrasolve)
>> Describe advanced techniques to treat difficult body areas:
# Use of VASER for high definition liposculpture to improve results on the abdomen and circumferential torso
# Successful, safe sculpting of calves and ankles
# Liposuction of arms with heat producing devices to increase shrinkage and avoid brachioplasty
# Sophisticated treatment of gynecomastia
