Powerful Documentary Exposing Elder Abuse Seeks Kickstarter Backing

Los Angels, California – Isolated, a new, prolific documentary that looks in-depth at the isolation and abuse towards vulnerable adults common across America, officially launched a Kickstarter campaign this week for garnering financial backing needed to complete production of the film this year. The documentary explores the increasing epidemic of isolation as a precursor to elder abuse and financial exploitation.

„Isolation is happening to families all across the US and it’s often too late to fix it once it envelops a loved one,“ said Cameron Glenar, Director of the Isolated Documentary. „Our goal with the production of this documentary is to warn other families of this common occurrence and help equip them with the information and resources to prevent it from happening.“

The documentary exposes the growing problem of elder abuse and isolation of vulnerable adults across America from their adult children and family by those who have been entrusted to take care of the senior. „More and more seniors are afflicted with cognitive diseases such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s, and as this population grows so does the potential for abuse,“ Glenar states, „Once your loved one is isolated from family and friends, the abuser has full control, power and influence over them, often gaining power of attorney, so they can sell property and alter wills or trusts to benefit themselves rather than the intended family. And there’s very little legal recourse to protect the vulnerable adults and their families from this type of abuse.“

Inspired by the isolation and financial abuse of Glenar’s own father as well as the events of Kerri Kasem after she and her family went through a very public ordeal of the isolation of her father, the iconic DJ Casey Kasem, Isolated looks at the lack of government backing and supportive laws in place to protect the elderly from familial abuse.

„We speak with Attorneys, Law Makers, Medical Professionals, and families across the country who know isolation as a reality,“ said Glenar. „As such, we’ve found not everyone wants this film to be made, especially those profiting from the loopholes and helplessness of seniors. A portion of the funds from this Kickstarter campaign will be used for legal protection when the abusers are exposed in this documentary. Not everyone wants to hear the truth, and we know it’s going to be challenge – but this message needs to be shared with everyone.“

Produced by Cameron Glenar and Kerri Kasem, Isolated’s Kickstarter campaign will be open until May 15, 2016 at 10:19PM EDT. Their goal is to amass a much needed $55,000 in the allotted time frame.
