Hip Hop Meets Film Production Non-Profit Gives Voice To Disadvantaged Youth Through Music

Byron Bay, New South Wales; 27, August 2016: Founded in 2010 by Young Social Pioneer Award of Australia winner and English/Drama teacher Mark Robertson, One Vision Productions is a non-profit organization aimed at using Hip Hop and film production to create music videos which allow youth to express themselves as well as highlight social issues in their communities.

Thus far, the collective has travelled to nearly 40 communities and worked on projects focused on topics as far ranging as substance abuse (including a clever zombie-themed ode against binge drinking titled, “What Are You Doing To Yourself in Byron Bay?”), unity in the age of government corruption (“Breaking Down The Lies”), and the everyday lives of aboriginal youth (Rio Mission turtle divers). Throughout the videos there are common themes of solidarity, ending hate – especially as it affects marginalized aboriginal people, and respecting and living in harmony with nature.

One Vision Productions works in conjunction with educational and governmental agencies to give disadvantaged and underserved adolescents access to opportunities to gain experience and increase their skillset. Their TAFE (Technical and Further Education) classes and film/hip hop workshops have proven a valuable tool in helping students reach their educational and employment goals through learning public speaking, English grammar, literature, narrative storytelling, and teamwork.

In addition to being showcased on National Indigenous Television (NITV) and national radio stations in Australia, ‚One Vision Productions‘ “No Clue” has been featured on the Lighthouse Records compilation ‘Indie Legends‘; which was released July 22nd 2016.

A documentary is also in the making.
