(pressebox) Essen, 07.02.2011 – Open Grid Europe, the gas transmission network operator, is investing in infrastructure in the northern Ruhr area. Construction activities for a new natural gas pipeline between Gelsenkirchen-Horst and Essen-Karnap will start on Tuesday, 15 February 2011.
The 3 km pipeline will run from Wallstrasse in Gelsenkirchen in the area of Nordsternpark along Kranefeldstrasse to „Zum Bauverein“ and from there along Stinnesstrasse to Karnaper Strasse in Essen.
The pipeline, which has a diameter of 20 cm and will be operated at a pressure of seven bar, will serve regional customers including municipal utilities. Total project costs will be around € 4 million. Construction activities will require traffic to be rerouted. Temporary
traffic lights will be installed for this purpose. The construction work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
