Supervisor Hill Votes Against Developing Agriculture Land

San Luis Obispo, California – At a recent San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors’ meeting, the Board voted 3-2 to not authorize for processing a General Plan Amendment to change the zoning of a 92 acre property in Templeton from agriculture to residential rural. The plan was to enable a 14 lot housing subdivision. (item # 12 on Feb 9, 2015 agenda)

„It is exactly what we should not be doing,“ Supervisor Hill said and noted, that the proposal was in direct conflict with several critical elements of the county’s general plan. „We need to preserve our agricultural lands and not promote rural sprawl.“

In opposing this application, Supervisor Hill was joined by Supervisor Debbie Arnold and Supervisor Bruce Gibson. Hill stated, „It is reassuring when we not only follow our own land use rules but when we can forge unique alliances to do so. I commend Supervisor Arnold for her vote on this proposal. This is simply not the kind of housing we need.“
